This is us on the 3rd plane getting ready for the 7-8 hour flight to Lima, Peru.
After arriving in Lima, we checked into a hotel for one night because we were leaving the next day for Cusco which is a historical city and the stopping point before you go to Machu Picchu.
The next morning, we got up and boarded a plane to Cusco, Peru. BJ and Austin both got altitude sickness. BJ a headache and Austin was a bit worse off. We were actually able to get him oxygen at the hotel and he rested a little and felt better.
After resting, we decided to walk around and get a late lunch and see the town. So we walked the two blocks from our hotel to the main square. It was so beautiful! The architecture and culture was so interesting!
These ladies are locals. They earn money by dressing in traditional clothing and taking pictures with tourists. So, we took a picture with two of them and a baby llama.
This is the cathedral on the square. We actually toured it and it was incredible! It is HUGE and full of artwork and ornate church relics.
The streets in Cusco were small and had heavy traffic. You have to be extremely careful because the sidewalks are small and the slightest reaching of an arm and you could hit a car. It was definitely interesting!
This is the statue at the center of the city square.
While shopping we saw these crazy masks and of course we had to buy one!
Afterwards, we went back to the hotel to rest again and then ventured out for dinner. Then came back and crashed because we had to get up early in the morning to get on the train for the 3 hour ride to Machu Picchu!
