Columbus Day?

I TOTALLY didn't realize it was Columbus day until looking through the chain store ads and finding tons of 50% off coupons...so of course I had to go and do some retail therapy I did good I bought a book "Ask the Masters" which was really neat and the cutter for the circle cutter and a ek corner rounder so I can try and make my own scalloped paper! Not too bad only out about $25 dollars! Anyway here is how dinner went.....

Austin: Mom did you know today was Columbus day?
Me: Yes...when did Columbus come to America (well not actually America, but near here..) *I know he is probably really confused by now because I have to explain everything*
Austin: 1492
Me: Yes...have you ever heard the saying "Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 14 hundred and 92"?
Austin: no
Me: Well, try and say it and it will help you to always remember it.
*He tries several times*
Austin: That is too hard to remember...I think I'll just stick with 1492.

Hehe....the things we do to help our children learn...I guess it's easier for him to memorize. I am like that.
